Yr Weather Privacy Policy
This privacy policy applies to Yr Weather, also displayed as YrWeather, Android package com.yrweather. The app is provided by QuantusHorizon.
Location data
Yr Weather accesses precise and approximate device location so it can determine the nearby forecast location and provide local weather information. Depending on the permission selected on the device, the app may receive GPS-based precise coordinates or an approximate location.
The app may access location:
- when the app is opened or the weather forecast is refreshed;
- during background refreshes used to keep local weather information current; and
- while the persistent weather notification is enabled, including when the app is not visible or actively in use.
How location is used and transmitted
The device's latitude and longitude are transmitted over HTTPS to Yr.no to identify the nearby forecast location and retrieve weather information for that location. Because the request is sent directly from the device, Yr.no and its delivery provider also receive the device's public IP address and standard network request information.
QuantusHorizon does not sell location data and does not use location data for advertising.
Retention by Yr.no
Yr.no states that when weather data is retrieved for a position or saved place, request information is stored by its delivery provider, Akamai, together with the IP address for up to 30 days. Yr.no's own privacy information governs that processing.
Diagnostics and app performance
Yr Weather uses Sentry, Embrace, and Firebase Crashlytics to diagnose crashes, errors, and performance problems. These services may process technical information such as app and operating-system versions, device identifiers, crash stack traces, diagnostic logs, performance measurements, timestamps, IP addresses, and network request metadata. Diagnostic information is used only to maintain, secure, and improve the app. It is not used for advertising or sold.
Diagnostic providers retain information according to the applicable service configuration and their own privacy and retention terms.
Notifications
If notifications are enabled, Yr Weather uses the device notification service to display the current local weather. Users can disable the persistent weather notification in the app or revoke notification permission in Android settings.
Your choices and controls
Location and notification permissions can be reviewed or revoked at any time in Android settings. Revoking location permission prevents the app from retrieving location-based forecasts and background location-based weather updates. The app and its locally stored data can be removed by uninstalling it.

Children
Yr Weather is a general-audience weather application and is not directed specifically to children. QuantusHorizon does not knowingly use personal data from children for advertising or sale.

This policy may be updated when the app's data practices or applicable requirements change. The effective date and last-updated date above will be revised when changes are published.
